In 1993, John Penn moved to the Charlottesville, VA area and began working in the Waynesboro Community Hospital on the Recovery Choice unit. This unit provided inpatient, outpatient and continuing care services to newly recovering alcoholics and addicts. During his tenure there, he received his M.S. in Counseling from MCV. While with Region Ten, John Penn worked as a provider for outpatient services facilitating groups for adults in early recovery. He also provided individual and couples counseling for mental health. In addition, John Penn worked as a Program Manager, supervising direct services staff, both administratively and clinically.
